Research Memo 2

In the articles that I have found, I have noticed that people do not necessarily see a change throughout hunting, as much as they see an increase of danger. Could this danger be caused to the sudden increase of younger hunters? Many people think that with the increase of younger hunters that they should be made to take a Hunters Education class provided by their local DNR/Game Management.
In one of my articles, Alaskan Game wardens have put a ban on moose hunting due to an increase in the numbers. It talks about how with the sudden rise of hunters, and sudden illegal taken of the quarry. Ed Schlei, a hunter’s guide in Anchorage Alaska, stated that some of his tourist never touched an animal. “They shoot it, and they take their picture of it, they measure it and then they simply tell the assistant guide to gut it.” They take no pride in what we as humans used to live off of.
In addition to illegal taken of game in Alaska and other states, another issue I noticed that there is an ongoing issue of harvesters on private land and land leased. A key part in hunting and harvesters take advantage of this by dangerously hunting. Several government officials that deal with the conservation and protection of states have put certain bans on hunting in areas.
Overall, with an increase danger of hunting and an increase of quarry in certain areas, hunters take it upon themselves to do what they deem necessary to get their kill. People are willing to ignore the safety of a gun and the safety of others by shooting across public roads and highways and even across property lines. Its reasons like this that several anti-hunt groups and conservational parties are on the rise. Reasons like this that cause several law enforcement officers have cracked down and stricken the laws on hunting.
I know that from a personal experience that hunting and “hunters” has/have become more dangerous. It is obvious that hunting has become more of a joke then a matter of seriousness and safety. It’s a shame that through my articles, I found that several states are having issues with illegal hunting and that it has became more of threat then a hobby or sport. In each article that I have used thus far show a change in threat, payments and fines, hunters with permits (that are known of). That’s not including those who hunt without a proper license.
